Does the Hyperx Quadcast microphone have a driver? : r/HyperX
Hey Wankmasteroverspark! The Quadcast uses the Windows microphone drivers. You can adjust the mic level using the microphone level bar in settings and the know on the bottom of the mic itself. It should be picking up audio easily if both of those are maxed out.

HyperX Cloud II wired, audio quality is terrible : r/HyperX - Reddit
Update: Using the astro 3.5mm jack splitter, plugging the hyperx into that and it sounds almost as good as the A40's so I've come to the conclusion that the HyperX hub thing might be the issue? it makes the audio sound terrible, doesn't matter if the 7.1 surround is on / off.
