The White Sox remain the land of opportunity. Adding a player such as outfielder Everson Pereira, therefore -- which the team did as part of a four-player deal with the Rays Tuesday night \-\- becomes a smart way to populate their baseball land.
Opportunity is one thing the Sox can offer to prospects who couldn’t find a footing with their previous teams. Pereira joins Miguel Vargas and Curtis Mead as players whom the Sox can afford giving a longer runway of at-bats.
Ellard dealt with hamstring and lat injuries for much of the 2025 season, and moved between the White Sox and Triple-A Charlotte Knights throughout the year. He wrapped up his second major league season with 17 innings pitched, a 4.24 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, 22 strikeouts and 19 walks.

White Sox fans shouldn’t plan on much outside reinforcement coming to help the team next season. “We’re not actively looking to move anyone, but naturally there is some interest in our players,” general manager Chris Getz said Wednesday.
