It’s ok to take the fluids off the pump to bolus volume to a hypotensive patient! I think Nursing Schools have done a really good job of beating it into nurses heads that all medication must be administered on the pump! But for a crashing patient, there are exceptions to the rule 😉 Most pumps max out at 999mLs/hr… that means it will take AN INTIRE HOUR to get a liter in!
